This article looks at how Norwegian museums are adapting to a society shaped by migration and greater cultural diversity. It shows how museums try to include the voices and stories of immigrants in their exhibitions and collections, moving from older ideas of national identity to approaches that recognize mixed and transnational cultures. The research uses surveys, interviews, and case studies of museums that focus on diversity, such as Ryfylkemuseet’s The Long Road project and a collaboration between Norsk Folkemuseum and the Intercultural Museum. These projects gave immigrants a chance to share their experiences and helped museums test new methods of working. The study finds that while many museums have started initiatives on migration and multiculturalism, they still struggle to connect with new audiences in a lasting way. Overall, it shows both the challenges and possibilities of making museums more inclusive and representative of today’s Norway.
